WHAT IS MEDITATION?
Meditation is enjoying a huge surge in popularity as an increasing number of people are learning about - and experiencing - its benefits. An ancient practice, it is essentially a means of calming and transforming the mind. In the same way physical sport makes you fitter, meditation can make your mind ‘fitter’ so to speak.
Regular meditation practice has been scientifically proven to help manage emotions, enhance focus and reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.
People turn to meditation for a number of reasons. Some use it for spiritual purposes in order to tap into a deeper understanding of themselves. Some use it to cope better with stress and anxiety. And some simply use it to feel more calm and peaceful in everyday life. Whatever the reason you’re curious, it’s likely meditation can help you.
how does mindful meditation work?

If meditation helps calm the mind, then mindfulness is its better half. Technically speaking, being mindful is the ability to be fully present. It’s about being fully aware of ourselves in this present moment, and being fully engaged with whatever we may be doing in that moment.
Therefore, when combined with meditation practice, you can understand how the two together can become a powerful tool to utilise in everyday life to better yourself.
Mindful meditation practice typically begins by sitting comfortably in a quiet, peaceful environment. Once settled, the next step is to close your eyes, relax and tune into your inner self.
It can take time to learn to meditate properly, but stick with it. Trust us, it’s worth it! If you’re new to meditation, it’s recommended to try working with a meditation teacher. See below for details of our next workshop.
